( 0 / 0 )Eccola! Finalmente! L'ennesimo acquisto su Ebay, l'ennesima macchina fotografica. Non l'avrei mai comprata se non fossi riuscito a riparare la 5700, ma a questo punto che dovevo fare? Mi meritavo un premio, no?
E quindi, a un prezzo stracciato, ecco la piu' piccola reflex manuale al mondo, indistruttibile, bella, pratica, leggera.
E con l'attacco Pentax trovare del vetro non sara' una grande impresa...!

Here it is! Finally! Another Ebay purchase, another camera. I would never have bought it if I wasn't able to fix my 5700, but what was I supposed to do, then? I deserved a prize, ain't it?
So, for a damn cheap price, here's the smallest fully manual SLR in the world, indestructable, gorgeous, practical, light.
And with the Pentax K-mount it won't be so difficult to find some glass...!

Eccola, durante l'operazione della scorsa notte. Marco e Valerio mi davano per matto; io ho tolto una trentina di viti, qualche connettore in flat cable, il gruppo ottico, e ho rimosso un pezzetto di plastica da 1 mm3, parte non esattamente essenziale dell'obiettivo, per cui ora funziona di nuovo, finche' vorra'.
Non sono matto, sono solo molto paziente (e forse un po' autistico).

Here it is, during last night fix. Marco and Valerio told me I was a fool; I removed around thirty screws, some flat cable connectors, the lens unit and removed a tiny 1 mm3 plastic bit, a not-so-essential part of the lens barrel, so it works again , as long as it will.
I'm not mad, just very patient (and maybe a little autistic).

( 3.3 / 6 )L'Insetto Scoppiettante, almeno per qualche tempo, dovra' andare avanti senza immagini. A dire il vero ho ancora un po' di immagini pronte per post che dovrei scrivere e che non ho mai scritto, ma il problema e' solo rimandato.
La mia amata Nikon Coolpix 5700 con la quale ho scattato tutte le foto che avete visto in questi mesi e' defunta e stavolta, sembra, definitivamente. Il blocco lenti e' rientrato in obliquo e gli ingranaggi in plastica devono essersi accavallati in malo modo cosicche' l'obiettivo ora non esce affatto, neanche aiutandolo manualmente. Il problema e' che questo si era verificato gia' qualche mese fa, in garanzia, e dopo la riparazione con sostituzione del CCD il blocco lenti faceva comunque un pessimo rumore. Probabilmente effettuare la riparazione costera', tra spedizione e lavoro, piu' di quanto non valga la macchina.
Quindi l'intenzione e' quella di smontarla da solo togliendo un milione di viti nascoste e sperare di rimettere in linea l'obiettivo, a patto che non abbia danneggiato il sensore anche questa volta. Ero sinceramente tentato di abbandonare il digitale in favore della vecchia calda pellicola ma purtroppo il blogging, la foto documentale, il lavoro, la sperimentazione, fanno si' che abbia un effettivo bisogno di una macchina digitale, e non posso accontentarmi di un'ultracompatta priva di controllo manuale e dal sensore piccolo e le lenti poco luminose. Si tratta di una spesa che ora come ora non mi sento di affrontare. Ho bisogno di alleviare il dolore.
Probabilmente commetto un errore, ma credo che acquistero' una vecchia Pentax MX, solida, affidabile, e un po' di pellicola Ilford. Sono 200 euro, certo, ma sto affrontando dei cambiamenti, ed in questa fase ho bisogno di piu' anima.
Ho affrontato un ultimo dell'anno in un parco naturale soltanto con la mia YashicaMat e un po' di pellicole medio formato e quello che mi e' mancato, sostanzialmente, e' stato avere qualche foto con gli amici cari in un bel momento; quando fai solo dodici pose con un rullino non puoi fare foto di svago, ed e' li' che ti accorgi di avere bisogno anche di una digitale.
Non mi sento di dire che l'anno sia iniziato male, anzi, sono stato piuttosto felice.
Abbiate solo pazienza, per le chiacchiere senza immagini (beh, non da subito pero'!) perche' le fotografie torneranno presto.

The Arkansas Chuggabug, at least for some time, must go ahead without images. To tell the truth I still have some pictures left for posts that I should write and that I have never written, but the problem is only postponed.
My beloved Nikon Coolpix 5700 by means of which I took all the pictures you have seen in these months is defunct and this time, it seems, definitely. The lens barrel has retracted sloping and those plastic gears must have crunched badly in place so that it now doesn't extend at all, even helping it by hand. The problem is that this had already occurred a few months ago, by the way, and after a repair with replacement of the CCD the lens cylinder made a bad noise. Probably the repair costs, including shipping and work, are more than the camera's value.
So the intention is to disassemble it by myself by removing one million hidden screws and trying to realign the lens, provided it has not damaged the sensor again. I was sincerely tempted to leave digital in favor of the old comfortable film but unfortunately blogging, photo documentary work, experimentation, make me really need a digital camera, and I can't do that with an ultra-compact, having no manual control, a small sensor and non-performant lenses. This is an expense I currently can't afford. I need to relieve the pain.
I'm probably going to commit a mistake, but I think I'll end up buying an old Pentax MX, solid, reliable, and some Ilford film. It's around 200 euros, but I am facing changes, and at this stage I need more soul.
I spent New Year's Eve in a natural park with only my YashicaMat and some medium format film and what I essentially missed has been having some photos with dear friends in beautiful moments; when you get only twelve frames out of a film you can't shoot for fun, and it's then that you realize you also need a digital.
I won't say the year has started badly, in fact, I was pretty happy.
Only have patience for a blog without images (well, not immediately!) Because the photographs will return soon.

( 3 / 5 )E' proprio un peccato. I Counting Crows dovevano uscire con un nuovo album il 6 novembre e invece hanno chiesto alla Geffen, la loro casa discografica, di rimandare all'anno prossimo. Devo aspettare altri tre mesi, se sono fortunato. e quel che e' peggio e' che il disco e' gia' stato registrato e mixato.
Aspettare, sempre aspettare.
Siamo una generazione in attesa; comincio a sospettare che aspetteremo per sempre...

That's a real pity. Counting Crows were expected to release a new album on Nov 6th but they just asked Geffen, their label, to postpone it to next year. I'm gonna wait another three months, if lucky, and what's worse is that the album has already been recorded and mixed.
Wait, always wait.
We're a waiting generation; I start suspecting we're gonna wait forever...

( 3.1 / 10 )E cosi' anche questo compleanno e' passato, un altro anno, un altro passo; ho ricevuto degli auguri, alcuni attesi, altri inaspettati, come l'email che mi ha mandato Wan da Singapore dopo mesi e mesi di silenzio. E' stato bello, e forse e' un buon punto di partenza per riconnettersi e fare due chiacchiere.
Che cosa ho ricevuto? Una giacca nuova per la Vespa, ne avevo bisogno, un paio di libri (uno e' un romanzo di Stanislaw Lem e l'altro un libro fotografico sul Giappone di Fosco Maraini) e l'ultimo album di Ben Harper (fantastico).
Cosa avrei voluto?
Tempo. Tempo per respirare, per godermi l'aria aperta ed il sole, un po' di tempo per me stesso. Tempo per tracciare linee sull'asfalto, per suonare e costruire strumenti da suonare.
Tempo che non ho mai, e quando ce l'ho lo spreco.
E godermi la vita, tutto il tempo.

So this birthday has passed, another year, another step; I received greetings, some expected and some unexpected, as the email Wan sent me from S-Pore after months and months of silence. It was nice, and maybe a good starting point to reconnect and talk a little.
What did I get? A new riding jacket, I needed it, a couple of books (one is a Stanislaw Lem novel and the other a photographic book about Japan by Fosco Maraini) and the last Ben Harper's album (great).
What would I have got?
Time. Time to breath, to enjoy the open air and the sun, some time for myself. Time to carve lines on asphalt, to play and build instruments to be played.
Time I always miss, and I waste it when I got it.
And enjoy life, all this time.

E' la seconda volta che li accompagno ed e' piuttosto divertente, visto che indossano costumi bellissimi ed hanno una gran energia.

( 3.1 / 19 )Ultimamente sono stato troppo impegnato con svariate cose per cui ho concentrato la mia comunicazione sul blog dell'Insetto Scoppiettante, visto che il viaggio in Sardegna mi ha dato molti argomenti di cui parlare. Inoltre, un'avvisaglia del tempo mi fa pensare di dover mettere a punto il mio mezzo e prepararmi per la brutta stagione.
Nonostante cio', questo fine settimana ho lasciato la Vespa a casa per darle respiro e mi sono avventurato sulle Alpi Apuane per un giro di due giorni in tenda, mangiando un mucchio di maiale e carne arrostita, bevendo tanto vino e diverse vareta' di liquiri e grappe fatti in casa e camminando tra il Passo Croce, Puntato e Mosceta.
Finalmente ho potuto testare il fornellino ad alcool fatto con le lattine che non ero riuscito a finire di costruire in tempo per il nostro giro in Sardegna ed ho potuto constatare con piacere che in poco piu' di cinque minuti ha scaldato cinque tazze d'acqua per il nostro caffe' mattutino con appena tre cucchiai di alcool denaturato. Anche il supporto per la pentola che ho costruito non e' male, un progettino personale, fatto con appena una gruccia di metallo da lavanderia e tre sezioni di tubetto d'alluminio che ho tagliato, piegato e lucidato sul treno! Tiene la pentola a circa un centimetro e mezzo sopra al fornello e fa la sua funzione impeccabilmente per poi essere smontato e messo via in dieci secondi (dopo che si e' raffreddato!).
Ora devo costruirne qualche altra, magari sperimentandone tipologie differenti e testandone l'efficienza.

Lately I've been too busy with many things and I focused my communication on the Arkansas Chuggabug's weblog, as having gone to Sardinia granted a lot of material to talk about. Then, a weather minor change starts warning that I should take care of my new vehicle and prepare it for the bad season.
Though, this weekend I left the Vespa at home to rest and I ventured upon Alpi Apuane for a two day backpacking trip, eating a lot of pork and roasted meat, drinking a lot of wine and several homemade spirits and walking between Passo Croce, Puntato and Mosceta.
I could finally test the Pepsi Can Stove I couldn't finish in time for our Sardinian trip and gladly witnessed it heating to boil five cups of water for our morning coffee in little more than five minutes and burning around three tablespoons of denaturated alcohol. The stand I built to hold the pot was fine too, my own design, made with just one wire coathanger and three short sections of aluminium tubing I cut, bent and polished while on the train! It holds a pot half an inch over the stove and does excellently the job before being disassembled and put aside in ten seconds (after cooling!).
Now I'm gonna make another couple of stoves, maybe experimenting with different designs and testing their efficiency.

( 3.1 / 26 )devo assolutamente riparare la mia Zorki 4 e sostituire le guarnizioni. beh, ad essere onesti devo *farle* perche' mancano del tutto e questo puo' essere il motivo per cui ho trovato delle strisciate bianche sui negativi. nastrare la macchina sui lati e' servito ad eliminarne un po', ma ho comunque notato delle falle nel successivo rullino.
ho bisogno della mia macchina fotografica e sono ansioso di provare a tirare la Ilford HP5+ fino a 1600 ASA o anche di piu', e scattare in bassissima luce col mio fido Jupiter 8.

gotta absolutely repair my Zorki 4 and replace its light seals. well, to be honest, I should actually *make* them as they miss completely and this may be the reason of the white stripes i got upon some negatives. taping the camera on the sides helped to get rid of some, but i still experienced light leaks in the following roll of film.
I need my camera, and I'm anxious to try pushing Ilford HP5+ up to 1600 ISO or more and shoot in very low light with my faithful Jupiter 8.

il MotoMezzo IperFuturista e' risorto a inizio mese dalle mani dei meccanici e in meno di trenta giorni ha passato i tremila chilometri. sfoggia un fiammante portapacchi anteriore cromato che ospitera' spero presto dei bagagli per un giretto. ma soprattutto, ora ha un nome: l'Insetto Scoppiettante! e Elena ha scoperto con entusiasmo di essere l'Orso Blubber! non resta che fare qualche adesivo per il casco e lo scooter.

last saturday i was in Viareggio listening to a stunning Jethro Tull live performance. by the hell, they're quite old but play pretty well, ole' Ian Anderson's flute is a machine gun!
the HyperFuturist MotorMeans resurrected in early june from mechanics' hands and passed three thousands km in less than thirty days. it shows a brand new front baggage holder which will hopefully soon carry some luggage for a small trip. but above all, it has now a name: the Arkansas Chuggabug! and Elena has enthusiastically discovered to be Blubber Bear! time to make some nice stickers for the helmet and the scooter.

( 2.9 / 24 )dopo un breve periodo di coma hanno riparato la mia coolpix 5700 e sostituito il sensore. gratis, fortunatamente. nel frattempo ho avuto modo di testare la microscopica S3 e non e' male, anche senza la modalita' manuale. la mia Zorki e' sotto test per vedere se entra luce, e la mia YashicaMat si sta riposando un po', ho molti negativi MF e sto sperimentando un po' con le tecniche di scansione artigianali.
ma quello che piu' mi rende felice e' il fatto che ho la mia Vespa LXV 125 nuova di zecca!!! uno scooter fantastico e dall'aria retro' con un motore eccellente, a basse emissioni, fa 39km/l ed e' STRABELLA! a breve postero' delle foto del mostro! ora e' tempo di programmare qualche viaggetto.

after a short coma period my coolpix 5700 has finally been repaired, and the sensor replaced. for free, luckily. meanwhile i had the opportunity to experience the micro S3 and it performs nicely, even though it lacks manual operation mode. my Zorki is under ligkt leak testing, and my YashicaMat is resting a little, i have many MF negatives and i'm experimenting some kind of homebrew scanning technique.
but what makes me most happy is that i have my brand new Vespa LXV 125!!! a great classic-looking scooter with an excellent engine, low emissions, 39km/l, and COOOL! i'm soon posting some shots of this monster! now it's time to plan some trip.

( 2.9 / 24 )la mia amata Coolpix 5700 e' morta. beh, non esattamente. della sabbia e' entrata nell'obiettivo e il mirino fa vedere un mondo che non esiste! l'ho mandata in riparazione ma ci vorra' - gia' lo so - molto tempo. nel frattempo mi sono fatto prestare l'ultra compatta Coolpix S3 dal mi' fratello, per scattare a colori in piena luce.
la mia nuova Vespa sta arrivando e spero che me la consegnino la prossima settimana. ecco perche' ho trasformato la sezione "smanettone" nella sezione "viaggi", che credo riusciro' a sviluppare piu' velocemente. bisogna che ci metta qualcosa sui viaggi passati, come Francia del Sud e Corsica.

my beloved Coolpix 5700 is dead. well, not exactly. some sand has entered the lens and the viewfinder shows a world that doesn't exist! I sent it to be fixed but it will take - i already know that - a lot of time. meanwhile, i borrowed my brother's ultra-compact coolpix S3, to shoot color in bright light.
my new Vespa is on the way and i hope to get it next week. this is why i transformed the "computer geek" section in the "travels" section, which i believe to be able and develop more quickly. gotta put into it something of the past travels, as Southern France and Corsica.
