Peccato siamo a San Vincenzo e quello non è il Gange.
Peccato che i bambini giocassero allo scolo del Fognone tirando i sassi nel bottino per schizzarsi.
Peccato ci fosse un puzzo vomitevole.
Peccato non ci fossero in giro i genitori, altrimenti gliene avrei dette quattro.

It’s a pity it’s San Vincenzo and that’s not the Ganges.
It’s a pity those kids were playing into the Fognone (i.s. “big sewer”) throwing stones into the sludge to splash one another.
It’s a pity there was a disgusting stink.
It’s a pity their parents weren’t around, otherwise I’d give ‘em a piece of my mind.

Ingegno – Wits

Temevo che mi fossero rimasti dei pelucchi nello scanner quando ho digitalizzato questo negativo, così ho zoomato per toglierli e cosa vedo? Non erano affatto dei peli. Quelle sottili setole bianche sotto al davanzale sono dei fili che la signora ha legato ai fermi delle persiane per poterle sganciare senza sporgersi.

L’ingegno degli anziani a volte sbalordisce.
I feared that some hair had entered the scanner while digitizing this negative, so I zoomed to see what? It weren’t hairs. Those thin white threads under the windowsill are strings the old lady tied to the shutter locks to be able to unlock them without leaning out.
Old people’s wits sometimes astonish.
